CBL-514

Injectable lipolysis candidate (Caliway Biopharmaceuticals)

Investigational drugSmall molecule

Injectable small molecule in phase 3 trials for reducing local fat.

Structure

Small molecule, not a peptide; structure not fully published

What it is

CBL-514 is an injectable drug candidate from the Taiwanese company Caliway Biopharmaceuticals. It is being developed to reduce fat in a specific area, such as the abdomen, without surgery, and it has also been studied for cellulite.

How it works

Caliway describes CBL-514 as a first-in-class small molecule that selectively triggers apoptosis, a controlled form of cell death, in fat cells at the injection site.

What the research shows

  • Caliway reports that its phase 2b studies CBL-0204 and CBL-0205 met their primary endpoints for reducing abdominal fat.
  • A pooled analysis of 46 people from those studies, presented in 2026, reported that visceral fat measured by MRI fell with CBL-514 while it rose with placebo. The sample was small.
  • Two global phase 3 trials, SUPREME-01 and SUPREME-02, began in 2026, and the company expects results in 2027.
  • Most published results so far come from the company's own announcements.

Regulatory status

Investigational. Not approved anywhere. The FDA cleared the second phase 3 study to proceed in May 2026.

Storage and handling

Follow the supplier's label. Research materials should be kept sealed, cold and away from light.
